Here’s a new tune I wrote called “Freshman Girl.” I began writing this in July and am only missing one line for the bridge. Matt Sia and I are playing it together on Thursday at The Bitter End, so we got together to practice it yesterday (this is the practice track!). I have to say - the song wasn’t really complete until Matt came in and played second guitar and added harmonies. Now it just makes my skin tingle!
PS: Ignore the part in the end where I go, “I’m gonna call my grandparents…” lol
(An excerpt from the lyrics)
Love, love love
You saw the pieces and you walked away
My one regret is I didn’t make you stay
Show you I was better than the ghost of yesterday
I simply tried…
They come back now
The memories down in Washington Square
I ran my fingers through your thick brown hair
Found a place for shelter on West 4th and Jane
We escaped the rain…
Somewhere between the stars
…You and me belonged
It may seem so very far
…anything was possible
Do you ever think of me as more than just
The freshman girl you loved?
